About Goods for the Study UWS
A desk is a system, and the parts of it that fail are almost always the boring ones: the refill that stopped being made, the sleeve that turned out to be a centimetre too small.
1A notebook system is only as good as its refill
Bound notebooks and refillable covers get bought for how they feel. They get abandoned when the refill is discontinued, or was never stocked locally in the first place. That is why refills and inserts are kept on the shelf here alongside the covers they belong to, and why we would rather stock fewer systems properly than more of them once.
2Undated planning, for people who start in March
A dated planner is good value only if you open it in the first week of its year. Buy one in spring and you have paid for ten weeks of printed paper you will never write on; miss a fortnight and you throw away more. Undated pads start whenever you do and cost you nothing when life interrupts. The trade-off is honest: you write the dates in yourself.
3Screen sizes and paper sizes are both measurements
Sleeve listings state the screen range they are cut for, and hard cases state the exact model, because a case built for one machine does not fit another at the same screen size – the ports are in different places. Sheet protectors are matched to the paper rather than to the binder. Getting either wrong is a return, and returns are avoidable with one number.
4Open every day, two blocks from Lincoln Center
Long hours on Broadway, seven days a week, because desk supplies get needed at inconvenient moments. If something you rely on is not showing on the site, it is worth asking before assuming it has gone.
